Adrenergic Drugs

Adrenergic Drugs, also known as sympathomimetic agents, affect the sympathetic nervous system, which is one of the major autonomic nervous systems.  The primary purpose of this part of the nervous system is to call to action the body’s fight-or-flight response. It controls our internal organs and promotes homeostasis throughout the body. The sympathetic nervous system regulates involuntary actions such as dilation of pupils, secretion of sweat, increase in heart rate, increase in rennin secretion and other responses of the body to stress.
Adrenergic Drugsaffects the release of epinephrine and norepinephrine, which are hormones secreted by the adrenal gland. It raises the output of the heart pumping more blood to the different organs, and it also results in an increased blood pressure. There are different types dependent on what needs to be cured. Dopamine is used to increase heartbeat, blood flow and urine flow in order to treat patients suffering from shock. Norepinephrine functions in the same way and yields the same result with Dopamine. Dobutamine and Metaraminol also stimulate the heart and raise blood pressure to cure people with shock. On the other hand, Epinephrine is used to control bleeding during surgical operations. It can also be used as a decongestant, and it can also remedy shock. It can also reduce the symptoms experienced when a person has conjunctivitis by applying the drug directly to the eyes.  Another function of Epinephrine is to limit the effects of anesthesia only to the area it is applied to. Isoproteranol is used to treat breathing problems cause by asthma or chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, also known as chronic obstructive lung disease. It can also be used to remedy irregular heartbeat. Another Adrenergic Drug is Albuterol, which is used to improve breathing. Phenylephrine serves as a decongestant and can at the same time stimulate the heart, curing patients with shock or low blood pressure. Dosages of this drug depends on the severity of the disease and the strength of the drug. Just to be sure, before consuming Adrenergic Drugs, one must first see a doctor and get a prescription. This drug should not replace professional medical care, because it may temporarily relieve you of the symptoms you are experiencing, but it will not cure you entirely. A professional doctor should still be consulted.
Using Adrenergic Drugs can result in some side effects, and some of the most common are nervousness and agitation. You also feel awake after applying or consuming the drug, but this is not evident when it is administered during surgical operations. Other side effects include hallucinations, sweating, paleness and some sleep problems.
